This specimen is a transparent green chrysoberyl weighing 1.52 carats, presented in an oval cabochon profile with dimensions 6.38 by 6.08 by 4.26 millimeters. The length to width ratio of approximately 1.05 yields a precise, slightly elongated oval outline, while the substantial dome height of 4.26 millimeters is optimized to enhance the stone s chatoyant response. The cabochon was executed with attention to symmetry and axial alignment, producing a uniform dome and a well centered optical band. The cutting approach prioritizes surface continuity and curvature control rather than faceting, allowing internal silk and fine needle inclusions to coalesce into a single sharp eyelike band under directional light. Surface finish is graded as excellent polish, with mirror like reflection and minimal tool marks, supporting clean light transmission into the body of the gem.
Color is evaluated as medium intense green, with even saturation across the table and minimal zoning, consistent with Ceylon chrysoberyl habit. Clarity is described as very slightly included at eye level, where fine rutile and silk inclusions are present but do not materially obstruct transparency, and they importantly contribute to the strong chatoyancy characteristic observed in this material. The specimen displays a pronounced, narrow chatoyant band with good contrast against the green body color, indicating a favorable orientation of fibrous or needle inclusions parallel to the domed surface. No enhancement has been applied, and the origin is Ceylon, Sri Lanka, a locality noted for producing durable, well colored chrysoberyl. From a gemological perspective, chrysoberyl s high hardness and toughness make this cabochon suitable for everyday wear in rings and pendants, provided the setting protects the girdle and edges. The Natural Gemstone Company presents this piece for connoisseurs who value technical craftsmanship, natural optical phenomena, and documented provenance, and we can provide additional imaging and viewing guidance to assess the chatoyant alignment in hand.
