This listing describes a natural, opaque green jade, oval shape, 9.89 carats, dimensions 17.93 x 13.18 x 4.51 mm. The gem is fashioned as a cabochon with a very slightly included clarity grade assessed at eye level, a medium light color intensity, and an excellent polish. The piece shows a uniform green tone with subtle internal texture consistent with Burmese jade, origin Burma, no enhancement. For inventory reference, the opal type White Opal is noted in our catalog, however the primary material for this item is green jade. The Natural Gemstone Company confirms the gem has been evaluated for surface finish and treatment, and is presented in its natural state with the expected tactile, silky surface characteristic of high quality jade cabochons.
Reflective behavior is dominated by the cabochon form and the stone's inherent opacity, producing a soft, even sheen rather than mirrorlike sparkle. The excellent polish enhances a waxy to slightly greasy luster that yields broad, diffuse reflections across the dome, emphasizing color depth and surface smoothness. Compared to faceted green gems such as emerald, which display sharp specular flashes from faceted facets and internal light return, this jade offers a more subdued, continuous glow. Within the jade category, Burmese jadeite typically presents a brighter and more vitreous surface than nephrite when polished, and this specimen shows the higher surface polish associated with premium jadeite material. Against other cabochon stones, for example chalcedony or chrysoprase, this jade has comparable diffuse reflection but often presents greater density and a softer, more waxy sheen. When contrasted with White Opal, the differences are pronounced, opal relies on internal diffraction to produce play of color and shifting iridescence, whereas this jade provides consistent surface luster and color saturation without iridescent phenomena. The overall optical character is ideal for settings that benefit from a calm, uniform green presence, with polish and cut selected to maximize the stone's natural reflective qualities.
