This 3.21 carat yellowish green peridot began its story deep within the earth, as olivine crystals nucleating in a mantle environment under sustained high temperature and pressure millions of years ago. Within peridot bearing mantle nodules the gem quality olivine grew with well developed crystal faces, inheriting a strong chemical signature dominated by iron and magnesium that produces the characteristic chartreuse hue. Tectonic activity and basaltic magmatic ascent conveyed those crystals toward the surface, entraining them in rapidly cooling host flows that preserved transparency and limited alteration. Subsequent weathering and secondary concentration in the Burmese regolith liberated the nodules from their matrix, producing the clean material that allowed formation of a transparent gemstone. This specimen retains the subtle growth characteristics of mantle olivine, yet exhibits enough structural integrity to accept precision cutting without risk of cleavage propagation.
Cutting and finishing decisions were selected to maximize color saturation and optical performance for this emerald cut, rectangular step shape, with exact dimensions of 9.88 x 7.53 x 5.09 mm. The emerald cut presents a broad table and parallel step facets on the crown and pavilion, producing controlled light return and a strong zone of color rather than scintillation. Facet junctions are precise, symmetry is consistent across opposing facets, and the excellent polish enhances facet transparency and minimizes surface diffusion. The clarity grade is very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, with a few small internal features that are non disruptive to the visual plane and that align with the crystal growth pattern. Color intensity registers as medium intense, a balanced tone that reads as yellowish green in both direct and indirect lighting, enhanced by a careful, controlled heat treatment intended to stabilize hue and reduce transient brown undertones without altering the natural character of the stone. Origin is Burma Myanmar, and the overall cutting proportions were chosen to preserve weight while avoiding excessive windowing or dead zones. This peridot is presented by The Natural Gemstone Company, and it offers a combination of mantle provenance, gemological transparency, and precision craftsmanship that will appeal to connoisseurs seeking a technically refined, historically ancient gemstone.
