This 2.05 carat oval red rhodolite garnet began its journey in Madagascar, where pockets of gem bearing rock are located within well defined seasonal deposits. Local collectors identified a rough crystal distinguished by a saturated red tone and internal structure conducive to clean faceting. The rough was transported under controlled conditions to a regional lapidary, where initial assessment confirmed the absence of treatments and the presence of material that could yield a transparent stone. Throughout the early stages of the process the focus remained on preserving natural color and minimizing weight loss, so that the final gem would reflect the inherent qualities present in the rough. The decision to work the piece into an oval shape was guided by the crystal habit and the desire to balance brilliance with color retention.
Skilled cutters executed a mixed brilliant cut to optimize light performance while preserving the vivid color intensity characteristic of rhodolite from Madagascar. The finished gem measures 8.41 by 6.54 by 4.67 mm, and presents an eye clean clarity grade when evaluated at eye level, indicating that no inclusions are apparent without magnification. The polish is excellent, resulting in crisp facet junctions and an even surface that enhances sparkle and saturation. No enhancement was applied to this stone, so its tone and hue are entirely natural. After cutting and quality assessment the gem underwent final inspection and documentation for provenance and characteristics. The Natural Gemstone Company presents this specimen with a clear account of its origin, weight, dimensions, cut, clarity grade, and the fact that it has not been heat treated or otherwise altered. The narrative from mine to market reflects intentional choices at each stage to honor the material and to deliver a rhodolite garnet that demonstrates the geological and artisanal qualities that define fine natural gemstones.
