This 0.74 carat rubellite tourmaline is a fine example of natural color and craftsmanship, offered to you by The Natural Gemstone Company. The gem is cushion shaped, measuring 6.06 x 5.14 x 3.04 mm, with a mixed brilliant cut that maximizes brilliance while preserving weight. Its color is a vivid reddish pink that reads strongly through the pavilion and crown, and its transparency is described as transparent, allowing light to return with lively fire. Clarity has been graded as very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, a common and acceptable grade for tourmaline that indicates only minor internal features invisible to most observers without magnification. The polish is excellent, the proportions have been carefully considered to balance sparkle with depth of color, and importantly, there has been no enhancement. Origin is Mozambique, a source known for producing rich, saturated rubellites, and this natural, untreated status enhances its value to an educated buyer looking for authenticity and long term investment potential. With a hardness of approximately seven to seven and a half on the Mohs scale, tourmaline offers reasonable daily wearability when set with proper protection, and the cushion outline and mixed brilliant faceting make this piece versatile for both classic and contemporary mounting styles.
The journey of this rubellite from mine to market reflects rigorous quality control at every stage. The rough was sourced from artisanal and small scale operations in Mozambique, where prospectors separate gem bearing pockets by hand and submit material for primary sorting. Selected rough parades the best combination of color and clarity, and was then sent to experienced cutters who evaluated crystal orientation to minimize inclusions and preserve the most vivid hue. The mixed brilliant cut was chosen to optimize light performance while retaining carat weight, and successive stages of cutting and polishing achieved the excellent finish you see. At The Natural Gemstone Company our gem specialists carried out a careful visual grading, dimension verification, and photographic documentation before the stone was cataloged. For the discerning buyer, this rubellite represents a combination of natural origin, untreated status, precise cutting, and documented clarity and dimensions, all of which support both aesthetic appeal and long term desirability.
