One beautiful transparent 1.34 carat oval shape greenish to orangish alexandrite, dimensions 7.99 x 5.48 x 3.80 mm, mixed brilliant cut, clarity grade very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, intense color intensity, excellent polish, no enhancement, origin Brazil. This gem began its life deep inside Brazilian pegmatites, where time, pressure, and trace chromium collaborated to produce the rare optical phenomenon that makes alexandrite so treasured. Miners working in remote outcrops carefully separated pockets of chrysoberyl from host rock, and from that careful recovery this single crystal was selected for its clarity and potential. In our workshop the rough was studied, mapped for internal features, and oriented so the cutter could maximize the color change and light performance, a process that honors both the stone and the land where it came from.
The sparkle of this alexandrite is born in its atomic structure and the skillful cut that reveals it. Chrysoberyl has a high refractive index, and the chromium that gives alexandrite its color change also contributes to strong light absorption in certain wavelengths, producing lively pleochroism and a dramatic green to orangish shift. With a mixed brilliant cut the crown and pavilion facets are balanced to both return light and create scintillation, the tiny flashes of bright highlights that dance as the stone moves. The oval outline and carefully proportioned facets allow light to enter, reflect internally along multiple planes, and exit as vivid sparkle, while the excellent polish ensures each facet surface is clean and mirror like so that light is not scattered away. Even with very slightly included clarity as evaluated at eye level, the inclusions are minimal and characterful, adding natural identity without interrupting the gem's brilliance, and the intense color intensity pushes the chromatic shift into truly memorable territory.
At The Natural Gemstone Company we guide this journey from mine to jewelry with transparency and expertise, protecting the gem's natural state with no enhancement and celebrating its Brazilian origin. Our cutters and gemologists chose this 1.34 carat oval alexandrite for its unique play of color, its well judged dimensions, and its ability to command attention with both fire and depth. If you seek a stone that tells a story of earth and craft, that sparkles with structural intensity unmatched by many others, this alexandrite arrives ready to become the centerpiece of a ring, pendant, or cherished collection, and we are here to advise on the ideal setting to honor both its beauty and its provenance.
