This transparent 1.67 carat round almandine garnet from Ceylon Sri Lanka is a study in precise cutting and natural color concentration. The stone measures 7.01 by 6.99 by 4.43 mm, yielding a depth of approximately 63 percent, which is intentionally calibrated to balance face up spread with optical weight. The mixed brilliant cut combines a faceted brilliant crown with a pavilion geometry optimized for color retention, producing strong contrast and well defined facet junctions. Clarity is graded very very slightly included at eye level, the inclusions are minor internal crystals that do not interrupt the visual pathway of light, preserving transparent transmission and allowing the vivid color intensity to read strongly. The polish is excellent, resulting in crisp facet reflections and minimal surface haze, and the stone is natural with no enhancement. The Natural Gemstone Company presents this specimen for connoisseurs who value provenance and lapidary integrity.
Under varied lighting this almandine demonstrates predictable and refined behavior because garnet is optically isotropic, so there is no pleochroism to disrupt color orientation as the stone is rotated. In strong daylight or cool white LED sources the vivid red appears saturated and slightly cool edged, with small flashes of garnet orange where facet angles concentrate light. In warm incandescent illumination the body color shifts toward a richer, warmer red with intensified orange red flashes, enhancing perceived depth. Under focused point lighting the mixed brilliant faceting yields tight scintillation, showing pinpoint flashes and crisp facet contrast across the crown. In diffuse or low light the gem presents an even, deep red tone with preserved brilliance due to the excellent polish and the well proportioned depth, maintaining visibility on the finger without becoming dull. For setting, an open pavilion mounting or a classic prong setting will allow maximum light entry and preserve the dynamic interplay between brilliance and color that defines this Ceylon almandine, a refined offering from The Natural Gemstone Company.
