This aquamarine began its life deep within the earth of Madagascar, born where mineral rich veins met ancient geological pressure and gentle, cooling waters. Local miners working with care removed the rough crystal from narrow pockets, washing it in creek beds until its subtle bluish green tone began to reveal itself. From that rough form it traveled to our cutters, where at The Natural Gemstone Company we traced the stone’s best planes and potential shape, respecting the natural growth lines while seeking the most luminous face up presentation. The result is a transparent 2.57 carat radiant shape aquamarine, with measured proportions 8.69 x 7.46 x 6.03 mm, cut in a faceted radiant fashion that marries step and brilliant facets into a vibrant, architectural profile. This gemstone is completely natural with no enhancement, polished to an excellent finish, and carries a clarity grade of slightly included when evaluated at eye level, inclusions that serve as tiny fingerprints of its origin rather than flaws to hide.
When set and viewed, the stone reads as a soft, light intensity bluish green, a hue that shifts gently with the angle of light and the warmth of the wearer’s skin. The radiant cut gives it lively scintillation from the pavilion and a clean, elegant silhouette from above, making the center table act as a window into those internal reflections. The excellent polish allows light to travel freely across each facet, creating crisp flashes and a glass like sheen that enhances the gem’s transparency. The slightly included clarity gives character and provenance, you may occasionally see wisps or pinpoint features that tell a story of formation without distracting from the overall brilliance. At 8.69 millimeters across this gem reads as a confident center stone on a ring finger, large enough to anchor a sophisticated design yet refined enough to wear daily, and it also translates beautifully into a pendant that floats close to the heart, or into elegant stud or drop earrings for a matching suite.
For a custom piece, consider complementary gemstones and metals that will either amplify the aquamarine’s cool serenity or introduce a warm counterpoint. A halo of near colorless melee diamonds will amplify brightness and provide a sparkling frame that makes the light bluish green pop, while tapered baguette diamonds on the shoulders will echo the radiant geometry for a modern, architectural three stone ring. If you prefer contrast, deep cornflower blue sapphires flank the aquamarine with a saturated tone that intensifies the green aspect through juxtaposition, ideal in a platinum or white gold setting that emphasizes cool color harmony. For a softer romantic palette, pair the aquamarine with pale peach morganites, their warm blush bringing out the green undertones and creating a vintage inspired rose gold ensemble that feels luminous and feminine. For a monochrome green language, small tsavorite garnets or mint tourmalines scattered as accent stones will deepen the green conversation, perfect in yellow gold for a garden like, organic statement.
Imagine this stone as the centerpiece of a pendant, cradled in a low bezel of platinum with a delicate diamond halo, suspended from a fine chain so it catches morning light like a pool of seawater. Picture a three stone ring where the aquamarine is flanked by two trapezoid sapphires, their angular forms complementing the radiant silhouette, set in brushed white gold for a subtle contemporary finish. Consider drop earrings where matched mint tourmalines punctuate the bottom of each setting, creating movement and color continuity when you turn your head. Because the gem is untreated, its natural tone will develop a relationship with the metal and surrounding stones, and because it is slightly included, those internal features will reward a closer look, a private detail between the wearer and the gem. At The Natural Gemstone Company we welcome the chance to design around this 2.57 carat radiant aquamarine, to select accents and settings that honor its Malagasy origin and natural beauty, to craft a piece that feels both personal and timeless.
