Born beneath the ancient highlands of Ceylon Sri Lanka, this chrysoberyl carries a quiet history shaped by time and water, heat and mineral. In river gravels and pocketed schists, chromium and iron met with beryllium to coax out the yellowish green hues that make chrysoberyl so beloved. The Natural Gemstone Company sourced this particular piece from known Sri Lankan deposits where generations of miners have read the land as much as they have followed veins. We brought the rough into the light of our workshop with respect for its origin, preserving its natural translucency as we shaped it into a classic oval cabochon. At 1.68 carats and measuring 7.15 by 7.20 by 3.40 millimeters, the gem sits with balanced proportions, its medium color intensity offering a soft meadow green when viewed face on, and a warmer yellowish glow at certain angles. The clean domed surface reveals an excellent polish, a testament to careful lapidary work that enhances the gem without altering its story. No enhancements were applied, the stone remains wholly natural from Ceylon, a tangible link between earth and craftsmanship.
The character of this chrysoberyl is expressed not in flawless uniformity, but in the subtle inclusions that serve as its natural fingerprint. Evaluated at eye level the clarity is very slightly included, a description that honors a few fine needles and a tiny veil of growth that catch the light and create delicate internal textures. One may notice a slender, slightly curved line and a small pinpoint, each inclusion telling of the crystallization environment where this stone grew, and validating its authenticity. Far from flaws to hide, these features add depth and personality, inviting the wearer to examine and imagine the gem s subterranean past. The cabochon cut further magnifies these internal features into soft visual movement, while the excellent polish allows light to glide across the dome and reveal layered tones. For collectors and admirers who value provenance and natural character, this yellowish green chrysoberyl from Sri Lanka offers a story in every glance, presence on the hand, and provenance note, and The Natural Gemstone Company presents it with full disclosure and the care of a company rooted in a love of natural gems.
