From the warm soils of Ceylon, this pear shape citrine began as a quiet, sunlit pocket within ancient volcanic rock, where traces of iron invited the gem to take on its yellowish orange glow. Hand recovered by experienced miners in Sri Lanka, the rough crystal was sent to our master cutters who listened to its natural lines, and chose a mixed brilliant faceting to maximize both depth and scintillation. The result is a transparent 1.83 carat stone, measuring 9.87 x 6.94 x 5.19 mm, with a perfect pear silhouette that feels both classic and modern. Evaluated at eye level, the clarity reads very very slightly included, and the excellent polish lets every facet speak clearly, with no enhancements applied, preserving the honest, untreated character collectors prize.
Under different light this citrine reveals a changing personality that makes it endlessly engaging. In bright daylight the medium color intensity warms into a pure golden flame, with lively reflections that dance across the mixed brilliant facets and emphasize the gem's internal symmetry. Under cool fluorescent or LED lighting the stone takes on a crisper, more amber tone, with tight pinpoint flashes from the crown that show off the cutter's precision. When placed in incandescent or candlelight the yellowish orange deepens into a honeyed glow, and the pavilion facets return warmer, amber highlights that feel intimate and inviting. In direct sunlight the citrine shows its fullest spectrum, combining brilliant white sparkle from the table and kite facets with saturated orange flashes near the tip, creating a contrast that reads as both fiery and elegant.
As a piece to set in a ring, pendant, or custom piece, this citrine sits confidently on the finger as shown in our images, its pear shape offering versatile orientation for classic prong settings or modern bezel frames. The mixed brilliant cut and excellent polish mean that metal choices from warm golds to crisp white metals will each tell a different story, and because the gem is untreated you are wearing a slice of natural Ceylon light. At The Natural Gemstone Company we curate stones with provenance and personality, and this 1.83 carat Ceylon citrine is a fine example of a gem that began in the earth and was shaped by skill into a jewel ready to carry new memories.
