From the sun baked terraces of Brazil to the careful light of our cutting studio, this citrine has walked a long and generous path. Born in one of the quartz rich regions for which Brazil is famed, the rough crystal lay deep within layers of metamorphic rock, formed over millions of years by systems of heat and pressure. Local collectors and small scale miners, whose families have worked these veins for generations, found this piece among coarse host rock. Its original form hinted at a warm, sunny tone, and it carried within it the quiet stories of place and process. As a gemstone that has long been associated with abundance and sunlight across many cultures, this stone connected the hands of the miner to the promise of future adornment, a promise that we honored as we brought it into the light to reveal what lay beneath the rough surface.
In our atelier the rough was selected for its transparency and potential, and it was entrusted to a master cutter who saw a pear shape would best tell its story. Through careful planning and a mixed brilliant cut, the cutter balanced the play of light across crown and pavilion, preserving weight while maximizing scintillation. The resulting gem is a transparent, orangish yellow citrine of 4.15 carat, with dimensions 14.28 x 9.90 x 5.96 mm. At eye level it reads as very very slightly included, an assurance of exceptional clarity to the naked observer, and its color registers as intense, warm, and sunlit. The stone underwent a considered heat treatment to deepen and stabilize its color, a standard and durable enhancement for citrine, after which every facet received an excellent polish to ensure crisp reflections and lively fire. The mixed brilliant approach allows both brilliance and broad flashes of color to play as the gem moves, making it ideally suited for a focal setting where light can enter freely.
When this citrine arrived at The Natural Gemstone Company it carried with it the provenance and the hands that shaped it, and we took care to document its journey for the collector who will next hold it. This gem is more than a measurement or a grade, it is a narrative of earth, human craft, and intention, finished as a pear shaped jewel ready to become a pendant, a statement ring, or the centerpiece of a bespoke heirloom. The warm orangish yellow tone harmonizes with both gold and silver metals, and the 14.28 x 9.90 x 5.96 mm proportions are flattering when set with a slender bezel or within a halo that emphasises the mixed brilliant cut. Because its enhancement is heat treatment, its color is stable under normal wear conditions, and with simple care it will continue to glow for generations. We at The Natural Gemstone Company invite you to imagine the stone in its new life, to feel connected to the miner, the cutter, and the craft, and to make this 4.15 carat citrine part of your own story, a warm emblem of light and abundance to be treasured.
