From the heart of Australia to your jewelry bench, this Crystal Jelly Opal tells a story written over millions of years, and finished by skilled hands at The Natural Gemstone Company. Born where silica rich waters once seeped into ancient rock, this opal began as microscopic spheres of silica that settled in layers, trapping light and creating that signature play of color. The piece you see is a semi translucent, fancy shaped gem weighing 3.74 carat, with dimensions of 16.06 x 12.70 x 3.18 mm. Its cabochon cut was chosen to honor the stone s natural formation, allowing the intense color intensity to dance across the surface, while its very slightly included clarity evaluated at eye level remains true to the honest character of natural opal, with no enhancement applied.
When this opal was removed from the field, it carried the fingerprints of its landscape, with subtle internal patterns that only polishing could reveal. Our cutters selected a soft cabochon dome to enhance the multi color flashes that shift from green to blue and hints of warm tones depending on the light. The cutting process was patient and intentional, removing only what was necessary to stabilize the piece, and achieving an excellent polish that gives the surface a glass like sheen while preserving the stone s semi translucent, jelly like charm. As a Crystal Jelly Opal the body tone allows light to pass through and illuminate the internal play of color, producing lively flashes that appear to come from within the gem rather than only on the surface.
As part of our curated collection at The Natural Gemstone Company this opal is presented as a ready treasure for designers and collectors alike, perfect for a delicate pendant, a custom ring, or a piece that celebrates subtle brilliance. Its stability and lack of enhancement mean it responds beautifully to classic settings that let light reach it from every angle. If you would like advice on mounting options, care instructions, or commission possibilities to make this opal the centerpiece of a bespoke piece, we will guide you through every step, ensuring that the journey that began in ancient waters continues with the reverence and craftsmanship it deserves.
