This peridot originates from a well established mining district in Tanzania, recovered from basaltic host rock where peridot commonly forms as olivine phenocrysts. The specimen is a transparent 0.61 carat gem, asscher octagon shape, with dimensions of 5.39 x 4.65 x 2.99 mm. Its color is a clear lime green with medium color intensity, a hue typical of high quality Tanzanian material. The clarity grade is slightly included evaluated at eye level, the inclusions are modest and do not impede the overall transparency of the gem. The asscher cut presents step facets arranged in a concentric pattern, producing defined geometric reflections rather than scattered brilliance, and giving the stone architectural depth. The polish is excellent, providing crisp facet junctions and a smooth table that contributes to controlled light return, and the combination of cut and finish delivers a focused, sophisticated visual effect.
From mine to market this peridot followed a curated path, hand extracted by experienced miners, stabilized and sorted at the source according to size and color, then transported under a documented chain of custody to specialist cutters. The lapidary work began with preforming to establish the octagon outline, followed by careful asscher faceting with attention to symmetry, pavilion depth, and girdle proportions in order to preserve weight while maximizing optical performance. No enhancement has been applied, the stone remains natural and untreated, and The Natural Gemstone Company documents the origin and grading as part of its standard practice. After cutting the gem underwent final inspection under standard gemological lighting, confirming the slightly included clarity at eye level, the medium color intensity, and the excellent polish. The lime green tone displays well against white and warm metals, and the compact dimensions make the gem suitable for refined rings or pendants where precise setting is required. The slight inclusions contribute character under magnification, while the clean transparency and asscher geometry ensure a controlled play of light in finished jewelry, providing designers and gemologists with a well documented, naturally formed peridot ready for responsible use.
