From a sun baked pocket in western Nigeria this purplish pink rubellite tourmaline began its slow transformation from hidden crystal to cherished jewel. Miners working with small teams and keen eyes recovered the rough that would eventually reveal a heart shaped gem, a stone with a rare pinkish red tone that seems to hold the warmth of the earth within. The journey from mine to cutting table was careful and deliberate, as the rough was routed to craftsmen who respect the natural story of each piece. The cutter studied the internal character of the crystal and chose a mixed brilliant cut to maximize its lively fire and depth, carving a perfect heart shape that weighs 4.18 carat and measures 11.08 by 12.48 by 5.03 mm. This stone remained untreated, completely natural with no enhancement, and was evaluated as very very slightly included evaluated at eye level, a clarity that allows transparency and sparkle while preserving the gemstones original personality. The intense color intensity and excellent polish are the result of patient, expert work that honored the tourmalines natural hue and favored the bold purplish pink to pinkish red tones that make rubellite so beloved.
At The Natural Gemstone Company we celebrate the hands and places that bring such a gem to market, and this rubellite arrives to you with that provenance intact and a certification that acknowledges its authenticity. Picture this heart set into a simple rose gold pendant so the stones center draws the eye, or mounted in a delicate ring where the mixed brilliant facets catch candlelight. Its transparent body and vivid color perform beautifully in both modern and classic settings, and because it is untreated it is prized by collectors who value natural authenticity. Caring for it is straightforward, a gentle cleaning with warm soapy water and a soft brush will maintain the polish and color, and occasional professional checks will keep the mounting secure. This heart shaped rubellite is more than a gem, it is a small archive of Nigerian earth and artisan skill, a resonant story of origin and craft that arrives to you ready to become part of your story.
