This 0.43 carat pear shape pinkish red spinel measures 5.15 x 3.94 x 2.81 mm and presents as a transparent, eye-catching specimen, graded with intense color intensity and a clarity of very slightly included when evaluated at eye level. The stone has been faceted to a mixed brilliant design, combining a brilliant-style crown with a precision-cut pavilion to maximize both spectral dispersion and saturated face-up color, resulting in lively scintillation and balanced light return. Proportions were controlled to an overall depth near 62 percent, a geometry chosen to avoid windowing while preserving strong color saturation in this small pear outline. The excellent polish and tight facet junctions reflect expert lapidary execution, the girdle is even to preserve setting security, and the symmetry supports an even play of light across the table and facets, factors that contribute to the spinel's overall optical performance. No enhancement has been applied to this gem, and as a natural Ceylon spinel it exhibits the robust physical properties of the species, including a Mohs hardness around 8 and a refractive index in the neighborhood of 1.72, making it durable enough for fine jewelry with appropriate mounting and care.
The journey of this pinkish red spinel from mine to market is a narrative of selective sourcing and exacting craftsmanship, and The Natural Gemstone Company is proud to present its provenance from Ceylon, Sri Lanka. The rough was recovered from an alluvial seam and selected at source for color concentration and internal clarity, then sorted by experienced buyers who prioritize material that responds well to mixed brilliant cutting. Orientation decisions were made to align the long axis with the strongest color zoning, minimizing wastage and maximizing saturation. The preform stage established the pear outline and pavilion angles, followed by incremental faceting and repeated inspections under high-magnification lighting to detect inclusions and ensure ideal facet relationships. Final polishing was executed on diamond laps to achieve the excellent polish and facet crispness you see, with a final quality control review to confirm the no-enhancement status and optical attributes. Offered by The Natural Gemstone Company as a collector-grade or design-ready gem, this spinel is well suited to settings that emphasize its intense pinkish red tone, such as rose gold or platinum mounts, and will reward an owner who appreciates meticulous cutting, transparent origin, and uncompromised natural beauty.
