From the ancient, mineral rich foothills of Tanzania, beneath volcanic soils that have held their secrets for millennia, this tanzanite began its quiet transformation. Rough crystals were coaxed out of the earth near Mererani, washed by rains, and examined by hands that know how to reveal a stone rather than force it. At The Natural Gemstone Company we selected a transparent, violetish blue tanzanite weighing 2.05 carats, an oval shape measuring 8.97 x 6.87 x 4.87 mm. Its mixed brilliant cut was chosen to honor both the gem crystal’s natural pleochroism and the desire for lively brilliance, and after careful heat treatment to stabilize and deepen its hues, expert lapidaries brought the stone to an excellent polish. Evaluated at eye level, the clarity grade is very very slightly included, giving the gem subtle internal signatures that testify to its natural origin, while its intense color intensity sings with depth and life.
When set in jewelry, the violetish blue tones of this tanzanite perform like a chameleon against the skin, enhancing and harmonizing depending on undertone and setting. On cool undertones the blue and violet facets resonate, creating a crystalline echo that feels elegant and refined, especially when paired with white gold or platinum. Warm undertones gain contrast and vibrancy, as the stone’s bluish violet floats above golden skin, and a rose gold setting adds a romantic warmth that amplifies the gem’s violet flashes. Medium and olive complexions receive a regal balance from this intense color, where the depth enriches natural warmth without overpowering it, and yellow gold settings provide a classic, sumptuous frame. On deeper skin tones the tanzanite appears luminous and jewel like, its transparency and fire offering dramatic, almost velvety presence, and both white and yellow metals enhance its personality depending on whether you prefer cool sparkle or luminous contrast. This tanzanite’s size and shape make it versatile for a center stone in a ring, a pendant, or a bespoke pair of earrings, each piece telling a story that began in Tanzania and was completed by artisans who respect the gem’s origin. If you would like to explore settings or see how this gem might look in a personalized design, The Natural Gemstone Company is ready to guide you through each step.
