Product description

This transparent 2.49 carat trillion shape violet tanzanite from Tanzania presents a clear and measured profile, with dimensions of 8.40 x 8.32 x 5.64 mm. The gem is fashioned in a trillion cut, and it displays an intense color intensity coupled with an excellent polish. Clarity is graded as very slightly included evaluated at eye level, indicating inclusions that do not materially interrupt the visual purity under normal viewing. The stone has been heat treated, a widely accepted and stable enhancement for tanzanite that optimizes its violet to blue tone, and it is offered and presented by The Natural Gemstone Company. These specification points form the basis for objective assessment of the piece for mounting or investment considerations.

Optically the piece benefits from the innate trichroic character of tanzanite, which produces strong directional color that shifts with orientation. In this example the dominant violet is vivid and concentrated, supported by secondary blue flashes that reveal themselves as the stone moves in light. The trillion cut has been executed to balance table size and pavilion depth, producing lively scintillation and faceted reflections that emphasize color saturation rather than dilute it. With a depth that corresponds to approximately 67 percent of the average diameter the pavilion depth maintains a controlled light return while preserving weight, and the excellent polish ensures that facet junctions remain clean and sharp for maximum internal reflection and visual crispness.

When measured against famous gemstones in history the attributes of this tanzanite occupy a distinct niche. The saturated violet of the stone recalls the velvety saturation associated with classic Kashmir sapphires, where chromatic depth produces a sense of inner glow. Unlike those sapphires which are valued for a predominantly blue leaning and tactile depth of tone, this tanzanite offers a cooler violet that is more rare in the gem market, particularly in a clean, transparent example at this weight. In contrast to famed diamonds known for their brilliance and refractive fire, such as historically notable examples in royal collections, tanzanite derives its appeal from color and pleochroism rather than from spectral dispersion. Compared with stones renowned for color change properties, for example historic alexandrite pieces that alter hue under differing light sources, this tanzanite does not undergo a full color change but instead shows strong trichroism that produces a controlled and predictable shift between violet and blue tones. The unique value of this specimen therefore rests on its intense, naturally derived violet, its clarity and cut which maximize color, and its Tanzanian origin which ties it to the limited geographic source known for producing the finest material.

Provenance and treatment are integral to transparent valuation, and this tanzanite is identified as originating in Tanzania and heat treated to enhance its color. Heat treatment is industry standard for tanzanite and is considered stable and permanent when properly performed. The clarity grade of very slightly included evaluated at eye level describes inclusions that are minimal in impact for this size, and the excellent polish contributes to the gem s optical performance in a setting. For practical use the stone is suitable for a range of jewelry applications, and its trillion shape offers a contemporary silhouette that can be set as a solitaire or as a focal accent in multi stone designs. The Natural Gemstone Company provides full disclosure of these characteristics to assist gemmological assessment and design planning. In summary the stone combines a rare violet saturation, a precise trillion cut, and industry standard enhancement, producing a well documented and characterful tanzanite that occupies a distinctive place among colored gemstones.
