Time allowed trace elements to weave themselves into the lattice, and iron and manganese lent this specimen its rare brownish red hue. Over epochs the crystal grew, facet by natural facet, guided by chemistry and confinement until it became a gem worthy of discovery. Miners in Brazil found this piece as a transparent crystal, its deep color announcing itself even before the light found a path through the stone.
